Relationship-Building
Officina Briani also offers unique experiences for corporate clients. The studio has antique printing equipment that dumbfounds people. As a result the studio is a perfect venue for relationship-building events, where co-workers or clients can gather to learn to print a small project and get to know each other away from their normal roles and functions.
For example, a group of 5-10 people can learn to set metal type and print a broadside on the 150-year old hand press, a rare opportunity. Most of these presses are in museums or otherwise not useable. Or a group could set type, print a few pages and learn to hand bind them into a small booklet.
At the end of the event, people will have made more personal connections with each other, built better working relationships, and have a physical object to take back to the office and say "I made this!"
Half day, full day, or multiple day events can be easily arranged, with lunch provided.
One to four hour educational events can be arranged for graphic design firms, advertising and marketing agencies – to learn where our typographic rules came from, see leading, explore the historical antecedents of design now done with computer software. The lengthier events could culminate with each person printing their own copy of a keepsake on the hand press.
